The carniverous cobra lily, Darlingtonia Californica, grows along the Illinois River and in fens on the slopes of Eight Dollar Mountain. It does well in serpentine soils.
Douglas' monkeyflower, mimulus douglasi, just an inch or two tall. Its tiny size is an adaptation to poor soils.
